Helideck Audio & Video Recording System (HAV)
A verified record of helideck operations, for compliance, investigations and regulatory review.
The HAV combines high-resolution video recording of the helideck with synchronised recording of two-way radio communication between the helideck team and the helicopter crew. It is built to the requirements in BSL D 5-1 (Norway), supports the recording checks in NORMAM-223 (Brazil), and works alongside our Helideck Monitoring System (HMS).
What the HAV records
Helicopter operations on offshore installations demand precision, safety and strict compliance with aviation regulations. The HAV gives operators a reliable record of helideck activity and communications.
Helideck video
High-resolution footage of helicopter landings, take-offs and other helideck operations, to show that operational protocols are followed.
Two-way radio recording
All communications between the helideck team and the helicopter crew are logged, as required by §40 of the Norwegian regulation.
Secure, encrypted storage
Recordings are encrypted, meet GDPR standards and are stored for the periods the applicable regulation specifies.

Norway
BSL D 5-1, Chapter IX
Issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Norway (Luftfartstilsynet). Official text
- §40 Communication equipment: radio communication with helicopter crews is logged and stored securely for a minimum of 30 days.
- §41 Helideck video: video recording of the helideck is mandatory. Recordings are stored for a minimum of 7 days, extended up to 30 days if required for investigations by the Accident Investigation Board Norway or law enforcement.
Brazil
NORMAM-223
Issued by the Brazilian Maritime Authority (DPC).
- HMS required: a Helideck Monitoring System providing wind, temperature and helideck motion information, with data storage, reporting tools and critical alarms.
- Recording checks: operational checks cover video, audio and data recording associated with the HMS.
- Before air operations: recordings are verified before air operations take place.
